Thanks for the Comment Eoin. Just shows that a stammer doesn't have to hold you back, you just have to work a lot harder to get there.

Yes! In school this can cause so much pain. I remember boys where I went to school and they were laughed and mocked by the bullies of the school (not teachers thank God). In Ireland we have a very eminent politician (Prionsias de Rossa) who has a very pronounced stammer which he has learned to control rather well (in two languages). His website http://www.derossa.com/ sometimes gives an example of some of his speeches in the European Parliament. He has occupied many important positions including leadership of his party and as a cabinet minister.

I chose Wordpress because I was told how simple it was, and it is. You can get a reasonably professional site up and running fairly quickly with the minimal amount of knowledge.

I do have an SEO widget on the site but I have probbaly not completed this as musch as I should have.

Thanks for your comments.

fellow PR! i like your website, why did you choose to do it as a wordpress blog? have you optimised your site 4 seo??

interesting post - i graduated recently. from BU. I think students choose PR for the wrong reasons! PR is so diverse essentially PR is everything because it is about communication, and without communication you have nothing!

Also re your other post somewhere about spam blog comments, yes it does mean your blog is becoming more popular. some 0f my clients blogs have masses of spam comments!

John - I think you have just the right approach in terms of always learning. One of the things with those who've been around new/social media for a while is that their enthusiasm can tail off and/or they get over-enthusiastic about some new widget and lose site of the wider perspective.

So someone coming in with fresher ideas and also energy to engage is essential - the day PR practitioners stop learning and think that past experience is all you need, is the day they stop being effective in my view.

I think here is little point in anglicising American releases - except perhaps correcting their quaint spelling and the sometimes obscure sporting references..but in this day and age most people who have a good command of English will know what the story is about...if it's a good story properly told no good editor will ignore it.

Axel - Thanks for your comment. What I don't understand is how, when you have client that has a very broad portfolio of products, many of which have to be engineered as they are not off-the-shelf items how you measure it then.

If social media is used to raise awareness, to promote you as experts in the field, or to inform. And then the buying decision is made by calling in your local sales rep or disributor how do you capture that as being a direct result of some social media activity. Especially when you sakes rep or distributor already knows most of his potential customers anyway.

I know this subject is a difficult one and I am sure the discussion could go on and on. I am just interested in all and any information I come across on the subject. Your post helped on that front.
